Shashi is a child of the mountains born in a quaint little village nestled in the lap of the Kumoun Himalayas of Uttarakhand. A through Pahari both by birth and nature, climbing and trekking is second nature to her.
Coming from an Army background her father always encouraged her to indulge and excel in outdoor sports from an early age. That love for sports inculcated by him led her to take up various activities like swimming, horse riding, gymnastics and athletics. But her sport of choice was Hockey and she was selected to play for the National team at the age of 13 in Class 8.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from DAV (PG) College in Dehradun and worked with Kotak Mahindra Bank in Delhi for many years. She also taught Computer Science at ATS Computer Centre in Dehradun.
